General Audtions
Information & Requirements

Georgia Shakespeare holds general auditions once a year in January in Atlanta, Georgia at the Conant Performing Arts Center on the campus of Oglethorpe University.  From these general auditions we will call back actors as needed for each individual project: summer repertory productions, fall production, etc.  These are professional auditions for Equity actors and non-Equity actors.  Please refer to our résumé requirements listed below.

Georgia Shakespeare operates under a LORT D contract with Actors’ Equity Association.  We do not hold auditions in any other city but Atlanta.   Although we welcome actors to travel to Atlanta for the general auditions, please note that we do typically cast locally.

Auditions will be held by appointment only.  A general audition for Georgia Shakespeare includes the following:

• two contrasting monologues, and one song to be performed a cappella
• at least one monologue MUST be from Shakespeare
• 90 seconds each, for a total of 3 minutes
• actors must bring a headshot and résumé

Non-Equity Actor Audtion Eligibility Requirements

• Résumé must include a minimum of five (5) fully-realized production credits with a professional theatre.  One of those qualifying credits must be from an Equity Theatre.

• The following DOES NOT qualify towards the minimum five (5) production credit requirements: Staged Readings, Workshops, and Training Program Productions (including school related productions).

• Listing of credits must include name of theatre company, city/state (required for non-Georgia credits), name of production and role played.

• Non-qualifying credits can be listed on the résumé as educational or training credits, but will not be considered for the five (5) professional production requirements.

If you do not meet these requirements, please refer to our Acting Internship section.  We offer summer acting internships for currently enrolled or recently graduated college students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Please refer back to the Audition Information webpage for more details.
