A father tests his daughter's affections when he offers to divide his kingdom amongst them.  In turn, he is put to the task when his sense of grandeur is stripped away and he must face the dire consequence of his arrogance.  Part intimate family drama, part epic journey of the human condition, King Lear is celebrated as one of the greatest works of Western literature.
