CAMP SHAKESPEARE

Elementary School Campers

Ages 7-10

Monday Thru Friday June 16th-June 27th, 9:00-12:00, $250

Kids enter the wonderful world of theater and discover one of the greatest writers of all time during Georgia Shakespeare’s award-winning Camp Shakespeare.  Using theater games, acting exercises, arts and crafts and a lot of imagination, children learn while having a great time!   Kids even get stage time when they present a special performance on the final day for friends and family.

Middle School Shakespeareance

Ages 11-13

Monday thru Friday July 7th - July 18th, 9:00-12:00, $250

Shakespeareance performers explore and present a 45-minute cutting of one of Shakespeare's plays, complete with stage combat, costumes, and a final performance for friends and family.  Games, improvisation, acting exercises, and arts and crafts are included to immerse the Shakespeareance performer in a fun and engaging way into the world of William Shakespeare.

Final Performance on the last day of camp, July 18th!

The High School Conservatory

Ages 14-18

July 22nd-August 2nd, Tuesdays thru Saturdays 10:00-5:00 $600

*Payment can be split into a payment plan.  Ask about details.

For the serious high school actor looking for training, this two-week intensive is an opportunity to work with members of Georgia Shakespeare's award winning company of Equity actors in the areas of  voice and text, movement, monologues and scenework. In addition there are seminars in stage combat and audition technique.  This year's teachers include Carolyn Cook, Chris Ensweiler, and vocal coach Cynthia Barrett.  Participants will learn one monologue and one scene from Shakespeare to be performed for friends and family on the mainstage of Georgia Shakespeare, the Conant Performing Arts Center, on Saturday, August 2nd.

Announcing The 2nd Annual

Georgia Shakespeare High School Acting Competition

DATE TBA: We are looking towards the beginning of March

Open to all Georgia high school students grades 9-12. Open to schools as well as individual students. Schools with five or more particpating students are eligible to enter the Shakespeare Sweepstakes.  Monologues and scenes from Shakespeare only!  Monologues should be no longer than two minutes in length; scenes should be no longer than seven minutes. Participants will be evaluated by members of the Georgia Shakespeare Acting Company.

$15.00 entrance fee per student. Deadline February 4th, 2009

Scholarships/Trophies for first, second and third in the following categories:

Shakespeare Sweepstakes

Determined by the average of the five highest scoring participants from each school.

First place receives a free performance of the 2009 High School Tour.

Best Monologue

First place receives a scholarship to The Georgia Shakespeare High School Conservatory, worth $600.
The conservatory takes place the last two weeks in July.

Best Scene Presentation

Medals and gift certificates awarded to runners-up in each category. Certificates and written evaluations given to all participants.
