To Teach or Not to Teach... To Teach!

Allen O'Reilly, Education Director and Associate Artist

Allen has been a staff member since the spring of 2004, and has just completed his 18th season as an actor with our mainstage shows.  He directs the spring school tour shows, performs the Macbeth the Man interactive performance, directs residencies, and teaches workshops and classes throughout the school year.  During the summer, Allen directs our Teacher Training programs, our Family Classic Series programming, and our High School Conservatory. Allen has acted at most of Atlanta's theatres, The Alliance, Theatre in the Square, Theatre Emory, Horizon and The Theatrical Outfit, and has directed most recently at Red Clay Theatre in Duluth. He is on the teaching faculty at the Alliance Theatre, and was the Artistic Director at Young Audiences of Atlanta for twelve years.

Brooke Collins, Education Associate and Company Manager

Brooke has been a staff member since the fall of 2006, and works in and out of the classroom for Georgia Shakespeare.  During the school year, she directs residencies, teaches workshops and classes, and coordinates the spring school tour.  During the summer she directs Camp Shakespeare for elementary and middle school students.  Brooke has worked in Education Administration and/or taught with The Alliance Theatre, Art Station, Imagine It!  The Children's Museum of Atlanta, and Virginia Stage Company.  Brooke is also the Company Manager for Georgia Shakespeare.  Previous stage management experience includes The Center for Puppetry Arts, The Alliance Theatre, Actor's Express, and Virginia Stage Company.  In past years with GA Shakespeare, she has also been the Asst. Production Manager for our annual performance at Piedmont Park, Shake at the Lake.  Brooke received her BA in theatre from Brenan University, where she worked with the Gainesville Theatre Alliance.        

 

TEACHING ARTIST STAFF:

Katie Clausen, Asst. Director for Camp Shakespeare (summer 2007)

Katie holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Auburn University. Currently, she is a drama teacher at Athens Academy, where she teaches fifth through eighth grade and directs the annual Middle School play. While at Auburn she pursued many different aspects of the theatre such as: acting, make-up design, stitching, and teaching. She has taught at Auburn Area Community theatre, Georgia Shakespeare, and various workshops.

LeeAnna Lambert, Instructor Improv for Kids

LeeAnna Lambert has been a working actress in Atlanta for the past five years. LeeAnna holds a B.F.A from the University of Connecticut, where she studied acting. Here in Atlanta, she has done children's tours with GMT and Kaiser Permanente, Offshoot and Aurora Theatre.

Joshua Waterstone, Instructor for Residencies

Joshua is very excited starting his first year as a teaching artist with Georgia Shakespeare after touring, performing and running workshops for them in their school tour of A Midsummer Nights Dream.  Joshua trained at the conservatory The Theatre School of DePaul University and holds a Bachelor of Arts from The University of GA. in Acting where he studied abroad in India focusing on the traditional dance dramas of the country. Joshua is an ensemble member at the Blank Stage Theater in Marietta (blankstageproductions.com), and an improviser with the O.T.C. performing at the Punchline comedy club and at the Red Clay theater in Duluth.  He also teaches acting, improvisation and directs at inner city Atlanta high schools with C.I.S.: Communities in Schools of Atlanta and is Artistic Director of the Off Broadway Dance Children's Theater. Joshua has performed with GA. Shakespeare, PushPush Theatre, Georgia Ensemble, Tell Tale, GMT productions and the GA. Aquarium.

Sheila Cavanaugh-Academic Consultant

Sheila Cavanaugh is Masses-Martin/NEH Distinguished Teaching Professor at Emory University. Author of books and articles on Renaissance literature and teaching, Sheila has participated in numerous seminars and workshops in Performance at The Folger Theatre Library in Washington, D.C. and has taught and published widely in the field.
